VIVA Quinta · The Whole Sanctuary is everything we own, exclusively yours — three separate farms on São Miguel's south coast, five distinct houses, fifteen bedrooms, and room for thirty-three guests across a constellation of properties chosen so each group within your group can find the rhythm that suits them. Malaca anchors the experience: the green-shuttered manor with library and formal dining hall, Casa Protea da Cima above with its sweeping ocean-view terraces, the 100-year-old basalt farmhouse, the architectural wood bungalow, the wellness spa garden between them, breakfast from our own hens. Ten minutes inland, Quinta do Ananás is a private gated working farm with 8,000 Azorean pineapples in traditional greenhouses, goats and geese and ducks and turkeys, and a hydrotherapy jacuzzi facing the Atlantic. Five minutes the other way in Lagoa, Quinta do Mar opens directly onto the oceanfront pedestrian walkway and a natural ocean pool a minute's walk from the rear gate.
Malaca · The Farm Estate is where most of the group gathers and where the heart of the experience lives. Casa Protea hosts the library afternoons, the formal dining hall evenings under the antique chandelier, the colonnade aperitivos, and three garden-level suites — Flores, Pato Real, Vista do Mar — each in its own color story. Casa Protea da Cima opens the whole upper floor with two 15×15 terraces, one facing the Atlantic and one facing the farm. Quinta do Maracujá brings a 100-year-old basalt farmhouse with three themed bedrooms (teal mountains, sand beige, petrol blue), a claw-foot tub with a private patio, a wood stove, and a kiwi pergola for long shaded lunches. Quinta do Café, just east of Casa Protea with the spa garden between, is the architectural wood house with walls of windows on all four sides — two decks, a Chesterfield sofa, and the kind of solitude that comes only from being inside a house that's mostly glass.
The two satellite farms add the textures Malaca doesn't have. Quinta do Ananás is the working farm experience: a colorful three-bedroom villa with an ocean-blue great room and sage-green kitchen, a long front terrace with two hanging egg chairs and a five-person hydrotherapy jacuzzi looking over pineapple greenhouses to the Atlantic, and the daily presence of farm animals — goats, sheep, geese, turkeys, ducks, chickens — that turns vacations into the kind of unstructured days adults forget they're allowed to have. Quinta do Mar is the oceanfront counterpart: a classic 1980s Azorean home with mahogany ceilings, a kitchen of ocean-blue cabinets and colorful Portuguese tile, a covered grape-arbor terrace with lounge and stone dining table, a five-person hydrotherapy jacuzzi under a second arbor, and a private rear gate onto the Lagoa Pedestrian Walkway with a natural ocean pool a minute away. Mahogany ceilings, terracotta great room, three bedrooms in baby blue and sage green and yellow.
VIVA Quinta · The Whole Sanctuary sleeps 33 across fifteen bedrooms and is the booking for the most expansive private gatherings — multi-generation reunions where each generation wants its own house, milestone celebrations where the wedding party and the wider guest list need separate quarters, corporate retreats large enough to need real distance between work sessions and personal space, and the rare wellness or culinary retreat that wants the entire portfolio to itself. Wellness offerings, cooking class evenings, Regenerative Farm Tours with kitchen-led dinners, dinner pairings, and concierge planning for the whole group can all be arranged. For groups under 21, Malaca · The Farm Estate gives you the full Malaca grounds without the two off-site farms; for under 11, Casa Protea is the manor and its suites booked whole.
