A corner suite for two within the Casa Protea manor — east and north windows, hydrangeas at the glass, and the slow island rhythm you came for.

Step into Flores and the first thing you notice is the light. The east-facing window catches the sunrise straight on — the kind that wakes you gently, then keeps going. The north window holds steady all day with the soft, even light painters chase. Together they wrap the room in two views of the gardens, with the hydrangeas leaning in from outside like they want to be part of the morning. The bed is a 180 × 200 cm European King — what Americans call a queen — set on a memory foam mattress and dressed in linen, with an en-suite bath one short step away. The room is larger than the typical Azorean bedroom and meaningfully more generous than the average São Miguel hotel room — it doesn't ask you to live small while you're here.
Breakfast is yours to take or skip — you'll choose at booking. When you take it, you'll find it set in the manor's dining room or out on the back garden patio among the hydrangea beds, the daisies, the Azorean lemon trees, and the grass that goes on long enough to set out a yoga mat. Bread still warm. Fruit from the kitchen garden. Eggs from our own hens. Good coffee. Dinner has its own rhythm here. Some nights the dining room is set for our staying guests — about three a week — for dinner from our kitchen. Other nights it belongs to a cooking class, where participants sit down to the meal they spent the afternoon preparing, or to a Regenerative Farm Tour group ending the walk at a vegetarian table. Guests can join either the cooking class or the Regenerative Farm Tour by booking the experience alongside the stay. The wellness offerings — sauna, jacuzzi, cold plunge — wait in the outdoor spa garden between Casa Protea and Casa Madeira, by appointment, alongside massage, bodywork, yoga, and movement, all of it just for our guests.
The view shifts with the side of the house you're standing on. From the front patio, the Atlantic stretches out to the south — open ocean to the horizon, the light holding for hours and changing the color of everything as the weather moves across it. From the back garden patio, you're folded into the working life of the farm: the camellias next door in the side garden, the hydrangeas at your feet, the lemon trees doing their slow work in the corner. Flores sleeps two, with a private en-suite bath and full run of the manor's gardens, patios, and grounds. It's the room we'd book if we wanted a beautiful base on a working regenerative farm without committing to a whole house — small enough to feel like ours, generous enough to feel like a holiday.
